The mission of the Southwest Education Alliance is to
facilitate quality education for all learners through collaborative efforts
among member school districts and other organizations, agencies, and
governmental institutions.
The Alliance represents some 250,000 students, over
13,500 teachers and 2,500 other professionals in thirteen school districts of
southwestern North Carolina.
Members of the
Alliance meet regularly in job-alike groups (Superintendents Council,
Instructional Program Committee, Elementary Education Supervisors, Middle
School Supervisors, High School Supervisors, Finance Directors, Personnel
Directors and Auxiliary Committee) to exchange ideas, hear updates on new
legislations, learn about new education practices and research, or to plan
workshops and conferences.
The Southwest Education Alliance provides professional
development opportunities for teachers, supervisors and other school staff.
The Alliance also sponsors conferences each year featuring nationally
recognized educators and training in the NC Teacher Performance Appraisal
Instrument, Mentor Training and a support group for National Board for
Professional Teaching Standards Certification. The Alliance works closely
with both the NC Department of Public Instruction and the College of
Education at UNC Charlotte in the delivery of these
services.
The staff members of the Southwest Education Alliance
look forward to serving you and your school district during the coming school
term.
